Drawing on not-before-seen documents from the archives of our local town hall, diaries and newspapers as well as directly from the memories of people who lived through it all, this book goes into huge detail of what it was like to live in Tunrbidge Wells during the war. It also takes on a little bit of a history lesson of the general war itself for those who may not already be familiar.
The book takes you on a journey from the pre-war years right through to the 1950s and returning to a normal life and absolutely everything in between in very fine detail.
It's full of great photographs of local scenes and people and some great advertising posters from the time and is another must-have for the library.
