Roger Joye and John Cunningham
This sprial-bound landscape book is the twelfth from the Tunbridge Wells Civic Society and is a collection of some of the historic panoramas of the town. Panoramas being very wide views sometimes covering up to 360 degrees. From the earliest images by Jan Kip, through classic sketches of the 1800s, to photographs of today, each one is presented right across the format of the book with closeups of interesting objects and scenes. The best thing of all, especially to those of us who happen to own some of these works of art is the addition of guide arrows showing the buildings and places so you can find your way around, which is especially useful given with some of the artisitic licence used in the early sketches.
This is a great book to travel through time with to see just how much Tunbridge Wells has changed from the wide open vistas of the Common to the building of some of our most famous buildings. A great buy and one which can actually be used as a guide for owners of the images. If you do own any lovely panoramas of town buy one today, but if you don't then you need to buy one so you can enjoy them. Whatever way, a definite addition to your library.
